VinInfoHub Affiliate Privacy Notice

Effective May 29, 2026

This notice supplements the VinInfoHub Privacy Policy and explains what additional data we collect and process when you participate in the Affiliate Program, or when you click on an affiliate link.

1. Data we collect from affiliate-link visitors

When someone clicks a URL containing your affiliate code (e.g. ?r=KAREN-A4F2), we record:

  • The affiliate code and which campaign code it maps to
  • IP address (used for self-referral prevention and geographic reporting; we do not sell or rent IPs)
  • Browser user-agent string
  • A non-reversible browser fingerprint hash (used for self-referral prevention)
  • HTTP referer header, UTM parameters, landing page path
  • Country code (derived from IP; never the precise location)
  • A cookie named vih_ref containing the affiliate code, with a 30-day expiry

The cookie is classified as a marketing / advertising cookie and requires consent in jurisdictions that mandate cookie consent (e.g. the EU under GDPR).

2. Data we collect from enrolled affiliates

  • The user account information you already have with us (email, name)
  • Your unique affiliate code and any additional campaign codes you create
  • Performance data: clicks attributed to you, signups, paid conversions, earnings
  • Payout preference (credit or cash)
  • If you opt into a PayPal payout: your PayPal email address.
  • If you opt into a crypto payout: your wallet address and chosen currency/network. On-chain sends are public by nature.
  • If you opt into a Stripe payout: identity and payout details are collected and stored by Stripe, not by VinInfoHub. We receive only a Stripe-issued account identifier and capability state.

3. Why we collect this data

  • To attribute new signups to your affiliate code
  • To compute and pay your commissions
  • To detect and prevent fraud (self-referrals, sock-puppet purchases, click-stuffing)
  • To send you welcome, payout, and weekly performance emails
  • To comply with tax reporting obligations (US 1099-NEC issued by Stripe for cash payouts > $600/year)
  • For internal analytics and program improvement

4. Who we share data with

  • Stripe — for cash payouts and tax form generation (US 1099, foreign W-8BEN)
  • Our email service provider — to deliver transactional and digest emails to you
  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers — to store and process the data
  • Authorities — only when required by law (e.g. tax authorities, valid subpoena)

We do not sell, rent, or trade affiliate or visitor data to advertisers.

5. Data retention

  • Affiliate enrollment data: kept while your account is active and for up to 7 years after termination for tax record-keeping.
  • Click logs: kept for 24 months for fraud-detection and dispute-resolution purposes, then automatically purged.
  • Commission and payout history: kept for at least 7 years for tax and accounting purposes.

6. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion (subject to legal retention requirements for tax records)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent for cookies at any time via your browser settings or our cookie banner
  • Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority

7. International transfers

VinInfoHub operates from the United States. By participating in the Affiliate Program or by clicking an affiliate link, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the United States. For affiliates in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, transfers are made on the basis of EU Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.

8. Children

The Affiliate Program is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly process personal data of minors in connection with the program.

9. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Affiliate dashboard or email at least 7 days before they take effect.
