Privacy Policy
How we handle your data and protect your privacy.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how VIN Info Hub (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use https://vininfohub.com.
If you have any questions, contact us at contact@vininfohub.com.
By using our services, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
AI assistant data
When you use the in-report AI car buying consultant, we process the information needed to provide and safeguard the consultation:
- Relevant evidence from the purchased vehicle report.
- Your question, recent conversation turns, and the assistant’s redacted response.
- Report type, response timing, IP address, country, browser information, and a pseudonymous session identifier.
Before analysis, the report-evidence pipeline redacts full VINs, email addresses, phone numbers, and URLs. Do not enter additional sensitive personal information in your questions.
The assistant uses Google Gemini to generate answers and may use Google Search grounding for current research when enabled. Model requests are configured not to store generated content where the provider supports that control.
We retain consultation records and technical metadata only as needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the feature and to meet legal obligations. They are not published in search results. To exercise a privacy right, contact contact@vininfohub.com.
Connected assistants: VIN decoding and report-availability checks
When you use our tools through a connected assistant (our MCP server or our GPT Actions), we receive the VIN submitted to the tool and technical request information. These tools do not request your chat history and do not give the assistant access to your VIN Info Hub account, payment details or purchased reports.
To decode a VIN, we use our decoding service and, as a fallback, the public NHTSA vPIC API. A connected assistant can also send the VIN for a report-availability record check (check_vin in the MCP server, checkVinReports in GPT Actions): we query our report data sources to see which vehicle-history and auction reports exist for that VIN. Decoded specifications, record counts, prices and purchase links are returned to the connected assistant.
We use connection information, including IP addresses and request timing, to apply rate limits and to operate, secure and troubleshoot the service. VINs, decoded specifications and record-check results may be cached. Service logs and operational records may include the VIN, request outcome and technical metadata.
For privacy questions or requests about connected assistants, contact contact@vininfohub.com.
